Each week, we meet for two hours to use structured creativity techniques like TRIZ and DeBono’s “six thinking hats” to come up with creative solutions to problems that we experience as 18-26 year old students on and off campus. These brainstorms often lead us to ideas that blossom into projects that generally last one semester.

History

Berkeley Innovation, or BI as we call it, strives to bring together the needs of the student body with the fundamentals of product design and development. Each semester, we connect with students, faculty, and occasionally industry to define design projects that challenge us to learn by experiencing the design process. Our projects range from conceptual to actual prototyping.

BI was founded at the University of California, Berkeley in 2003. The original founding members came together seeking to provide innovative design solutions that could serve to improve the quality of life of students.
