Outfitted with an iconic HP iPAQ Travel Companion and a web-enabled mobile phone, teams of fellow design heroes  zip around the city solving missions on this non-stop adventure.

Berkeley Innovation team members Oscar, Robert, Monica, and Kovid won the SF Bay Area 2007 challenge.

October 5th, 2007: Berkeley Innovation held its annual “What’s wrong with you?” brainstorm. Team members broke into three groups, mapping out what bothered them the most. Mind mapping a typical day from morning, to class, to evening, team members narrowed down the numerous ideas through a voting system. Finally, three mini projects were chosen.

For the Fall 2007 semester, Berkeley Innovation will be working on: BetterPack, Clash! and Outside-Inside.

  2. 1 Page (MAX) Design Prompt Solution in the following format:
    1. A problem that you are passionate about!
    2. Define the problem in terms of a user experience
      1. how does it affect a user?
    1. Conduct Research
      1. Google, observe, look at the way you interact with things
    2. Brainstorm - go for big ideas! Encourage wild ones too!
    3. Focus ideas - focus wild ideas to ones that can be practical
    4. Prototype - Use clay, paper, solidworks, whatever, send pics!
      1. Design a test to see how good your design is and run it
      2. Skillset (C#, Market Research experience, Biz Dev expertise, etc…)
        Companies you are interested in/have worked with in the past

      Some Suggestions for the design prompt:

      • Kitchen appliance for someone with a disability
      • Improve existing product shortfalls
      • How do new technologies shape/change the way we interact (camera phones, etc) and how may we use them in the future?

      BE SPECIFIC in your problem definition, good luck!

      Note: if you are selected for as a potential candidate, you will need to be available on Wednesday, September 19th from 7-9pm. If there is a conflict, please let us know in your application.
