The Better Bin project seeks to redesign the recycling bin experience for the UC-Berkeley student dorms.

We’re using a user-centric approach to tackle the problem. After completing more than twenty in-dorm user interviews and synthesizing our research results into design insights, we’ve begun basic prototyping.

We are preparing for our dorm feasibility test in April. We’ll be implementing one of our designs across an entire floor of the dorms and measuring how much added recycled goods comes of it.

Progress:

* 3/10/07 - Prototype narrowing and selection meeting
* 2/15/07 - Prototyped several forms for consideration using cardstock.
* 1/20/07 - Funding secured for April floor scale test in dorms
* 1/10/07 - Student interviews completed in dorms
